<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for photography?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I was a "creative kid" - always with color pencils, drawing something and painting. My father, instead of giving me pocket money, bought my works for reasonable prices:) Later I went to an art high school, which was a very important step for me. It was there I discover photography, at first B&W with work in the darkroom. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">It was a very long process, nothing like "love on first sight" I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, sometimes I still don`t know... I am critical person and I am very critical about my own works. Sometimes I am really surprised that people like it...but that is the most pleasant and gives a lot motivation to continue!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">At first I see an image in my head. Sometimes, very rarely, it comes straight from my dream. Usually its stuck in my head for quite a long time and I draw it on paper. During this time I am trying to find a place and a way to take the picture. Then I'm starting to create the situation. Sometimes, at first I see location, a place which inspire me to do picture, or I am finding, catching images in reality itself. I used to do only that, but at some point it wasn't enough so I started to shape reality: add something, change something, create moods, tension, stories - things which are coming more from inside then from outside. Hmm...I don`t know - its very different every time.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Stories, family stories, books, dreams, pictures, movies, nature, people, relationships, strange things, strangers, life.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is photography for you?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Photography is about Images which you have to build or find. For me photography is more like movie or theater - its process of creating strong, powerful images, visions, using pieces of reality.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The reality- the material world is a substance for building them, and whats very important - this substances are always outside camera, outside a paper picture. Not like with paintings and sculpture - where the wood or paint is concrete, definite substance of art work. A painter is shaping in paint, a photographer is shaping in reality and time. It sounds basic but sometimes I have a feeling that lots of photographers don`t think about it. Off course I am also finding lots of similarities between photography and painting when it comes to the image itself, for example - using symbols, building composition...</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In my works I want to do something I call magical realism - my new projects are going more this way, but I`ll see what happens...</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">My name is Phebe Rendulic and I'm about to graduate from art college with a Bachelor of Visual Arts with my major being Photography. I have a great love for film photography especially Polaroids and I love to experiment with all types of film cameras including Holga, medium format cameras and even cheap plastic and disposable cameras. I'm also in an electro-pop band called Radio Spectacular!!! (<a href="http://www.radiospectacular.com/">http://www.radiospectacular.com/</a>) so I'm always kept busy!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">For the last three years I've been studying so there's a big process of concept development and research involved in works produced for school but I find that when I do works for myself it's quite spontaneous and based on moods and feelings at the time. It also depends on the camera that I use, I can be quite rough and careless with my $1 camera because I love the crappiness of it and the light leaks it gives me. My Holga lets me be quite creative with double and long exposures and I like to add to Polaroids with drawings or turn them into little collages.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What would you like to communicate through your works to the spectator?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I don't take myself too seriously and I'm the sort of person that likes to have a good laugh so I hope that comes through in my work.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is, today, the role of photogrpahy for you?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">At the moment its my main focus and I hope that continues once I graduate. I'd like to get into fashion photography also as I have a massive love for it. But as long as I have a camera with me I'll never stop!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

I'm so sorry that I haven't post nothing this week, but I have a proble with my pc in Milan. I hope to solve it as soon as possible!! Here it is a new interview :)<br />
Ciao a tutti!
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lh1MbdVxPkg/TNK32j1pDOI/AAAAAAAAAvw/-YFPFBbYIo0/s1600/city%2520lights%252011a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" px="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lh1MbdVxPkg/TNK32j1pDOI/AAAAAAAAAvw/-YFPFBbYIo0/s320/city%2520lights%252011a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I have been a fine art photographer for over 20 years, in the last 5 years have turned it into a full time entreprenuerial passion. I have won many awards over the years in the US and canada for my creative photography on a variety of subject matter including landscapes, infared photography, polariod techniques, portraits, and black and white.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">My works are all digitally captured, but most are not digitally altered (except for the "Mod art" gallery). Photography is creatively captured on location utilizing in camera techniques with natural subject matter and natural lighting. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">My inspirations come from old french painters, Monet, Renoir etc that offer a non literal viewpoint with emotion, movement, feeling that captures timeless visual poetry. I also am inspired by shooting in areas of the city that are not considered beautiful but I can find something there that is.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your favourite artists? Why? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">I don't really have any favorite artists per se. I like all kinds of art and can appreciate the talent and thought process that goes into them. It really is about the creative, mental process that determines artistic vision that works - that reaches the viewer. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">- Can you tell me something about yourself?</div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I am an artist living in the northeastern United States, working in fine art color portrait photography, a medium which is excellent for getting painterly constructions and effects and for capturing the unspoken qualities of a woman’s character and “aura.” Although my subjects tend to be women who, like myself are engaged in some significant processes of creation. This is particularly true of those who regard my pictures of themselves as opportunities. My work is more optimistic than not. I am a Buddhist committed to finding optimism everywhere. </div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There is an implicit dialogue and wordless conversation which takes place with my photographic subjects (usually people) and myself. If the subject is a woman, the dialogue can be enhanced by an understanding of each other’s human condition and creative impetus. Elements of a “scenario,” such as backdrops, props, color, texture, positioning, composition, and the play of light get drawn into our dialogue of assertion, vulnerability, and creation. In the end an artwork emerges from this mix of elements.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What would you like to communicate through your works to the spectator?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Of course, the spectators bring to the work what they wish to have communicated to them. I try to leave the work open enough so that the dialogue that myself and my photographic subject will also include the spectator. This process of inclusion is a form of creation, since all things establish themselves in relation to other things.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is today the role of photography for you?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">For me at this time in my life, and at this period of history, the role of fine art portrait photography is to distill the essential human condition in a way which is personally meaningful to myself, my audience, my subjects (as co creators of our art) and this risky, hopeful and dystopian age, which we all inhabit as a frontier territory, on the edge of the unknown. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

When did you discover your passion for photography?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I came from painting background. I was a very skillful, well trained painter from 8 years academic study. I discovered the photography by a moment of reading a photo magazine in my teenage time at an art school. Since then, I have been drawn into this medium. Using it into my artwork.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Talking about the work Urban Fiction the artist here explains that idea came from her travels when she realised that cities everywhere had a certain sameness due to the forces of globalization. To relise this idea Xing Danwen moved from a fake landscape to talk about its reality. So, she decided to photographs the actual real estate maquette. What she realised working on this project was that the city has changed and developed so much because living environments, individual spaces and quality of life are getting to meet the standard human desire for happiness. Finally, from going to look at the maquettes, she also realized that the commercial world is controlling this fact: the real estate developers are cleverly leading people to find their desires in a dream space.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Time and everyday life...observing and thinking. Of course the subjects are related to my personal interest and perspective.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is photography for you?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Photography is just a medium. It is one kind of option for image-creation. Also it has a wide meaning for me, not a traditional concept of it....not only a 2 dimensional frame work. It is much beyond, without much limit.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">My name is Natasha Newton and I'm a full-time artist and illustrator from the UK. I also sell my artwork under the name The Blackbird Sings (http://www.theblackbirdsings.etsy.com), and I divide my time between my home county of Suffolk, on the East coast of England, and Paris, France, where my boyfriend Leon lives.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- When did you discover your passion for art?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">It's always been there! Ever since I was old enough to hold a wax crayon, I've been drawing pictures. My mum still has some of the pieces I made when I was very young.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I start with a general idea and usually make a very quick sketch or try out a few variations in my sketchbook. Sometimes I'll just draw directly onto the canvas, paper, or wood panel. Then I'll work in my favorite medium, acrylic paint, working from dark to light in several thin layers. I sometimes use texture in certain parts of my work. I also like to work on detailed little illustrations in black ink on paper.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">My main source of inspiration is nature. I love birds and trees, walking through the forest or fields, watching the changing seasons and light. I love clouds and raindrops and I'm particularly attracted to the Autumn and Winter seasons. I'm also inspired by books (I collect art and design books and unusual childrens story books), music, films, other artists...the list is endless!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I'm a digital mixed media artist born in the Philippines on 1986 to parents who both have different blood lines: my father being having his roots from the US and my mother having her roots from Spain. I love life, art and especially music. I listen to a lot of music genres but what I'm mostly into is all kinds of Indie and rock music, I also like trip-hop, classical and sometimes New Age. However, I do not understand the mainstream Rhythm and Blues music. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- When did you discover your passion for photography?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I discovered my passion for photography when I was 21. Back then, I focused on creating music, mostly of the indie/twee pop genre and then one day my brother gave me a DSLR as a Christmas present and after that I went wild with the image capturing process! </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I create my works through manipulating and transforming the photos I take and then painting details, light and color on the manipulated image through my digital canvas. Basically, I try to merge scenes that I have captured through the lens and with the images I have captured within my head. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">My main sources of inspiration comes from the emotions that I feel, from those nostalgic feelings and memories I have within, and from the tales of human drama which I try to convey realistically or symbolically. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is art for you?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Art for me is something that could make me feel an emotion I have and may not have experienced in life.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><strong>reGeneration2</strong></div><div style="text-align: center;">tomorrow’s photographers today</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">What are young photographers up to in the twenty-first century? How do they see the world? How much do they respect, build on, or reject tradition? As the digital revolution continues its relentless advance, demolishing longstanding practices in every domain of our field, curiosity builds as to how the new generation of photographers will operate. The reGeneration project – the broadest and most enterprising survey of its kind – set out in 2005 to discover answers to these intriguing questions, while revealing emerging photography in wide-ranging fashion. Following on from the success of this exhibition shown in ten different cities across North America, Europe and Asia, this second edition turns the spotlight on 80 up-and-coming talents from 30 countries. The Musée de l’Elysée selected the most promising candidates from some 700 entries submitted by 120 of the world’s top photography schools. The curators tried to keep an open mind throughout the selec- tion process, whether the photographers had chosen a documentary or an artistic approach, whether they worked with film or computer, and whether they supported their work with a detailed concept or preferred shooting spontaneously. reGeneration2 showcases the inspiring creativity and ingenuity of photographers at the outset of their careers, as they navigate in the fast-moving currents of the second decade of the 21st century. It shows these young practioners focusing on major themes as diverse as the urban environment, globalization, issues of identity and memory, their use of hybrid techniques allowing them to obscure as never before the distinction between reality and fiction.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for art?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Well I can’t really remember when I discovered that I had a passion for art. One thing I do know is that ever since I could hold a pencil or a crayon in my hand, I immediately felt the urge to create new worlds. The first four years of my life I grew up with my grandparents. They lived in a big house near a forrest. The living room and hallway where decorated with paintings of family portraits and flowers. I think it started just there. At that time of course I did not knew the word Art, but I realised that I easily could disappear in one of those paintings. The paintings absorbed me in a way. Years later I got interested in writing graffiti. Especially going out at night looking for a spot to do a piece helped me out to draw and paint very directly. It also gave me a feeling of confidence. There was not really much time to sit and shape things up, and of course there wasn't much light. The whole scenery, the darkness and desolate places were very fascinating to me. I got more and more interested in painting and visiting musea and exhibitions across Europe. A year later I decided to attend the Academy of Arts.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I create my works along memories and the drawings & sketches I make. I like to observe the things around me, in daily life and during travelling. There is a lot going on, hidden things, things I don’t trust. Ambiences & experiences I want to paint. The future in a dialogue with the past, or a past in war with our future? When I discover a place where I have never been before, I need to have the feeling that it’s a safe and threatening place at the same time. It has got something to do with adrenaline as well. I get excited, cause in my imagination anything can happen! In most of these situations I prefer to stay there one or two hours, just observing the place. I remember the fevers I had As a child, my body felt cold and I was constantly dreaming of fluid landscapes. Boiling sand and gloomy skies. I think I really tried to translate things into colour and paint. When I’m at such a place, I want to interview the scenery. Of course I don’t get any answers from it, but I keep on asking & answering these questions. This ‘Ritual’ of asking and answering questions continues in the studio where I work. What is happening at this place? What did happen here? According to the drawings and sketches I made earlier, a new world based on my memories and notes rises. When I finish a painting, I still didn’t get all of the answers. Anything can happen. If there are any unanswered questions they are hiding inside the work. Somehow it reminds me of the first paintings I saw in my grandparents’ house. I want to invite viewers into these worlds without showing the way.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I think important sources for my work are travelling, reading, digging for treasures, visiting museums & theatre. Besides these activities I listen and collect a lot of soundscapes and ambient music from all over the world.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is art for you?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I think it is one of the biggest and purest gifts. It offers people a great escape from daily life! In a way a doubt about the role of daily life and Art. Are these worlds separated or is that something we have to find out?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for art?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I have always been into photography since I can remember. There are photographs i took with a kodak 110 camera when I was 4 years old. I didn't start working in the darkroom till I was 13 years old. Once I got in there and learned the process I became obsessed with photography. It is really all I have ever wanted to do. Since 13 I was focused on photographing skateboarding and punk music shows. Then that slowly transfered to photographing my friends in these worlds in a kind of portraiture. I learned about large format cameras and alternative processes in 1990-93 and really fell in love with platinum printing.I ended up making my own 7"x17" view camera and doing platinum printing with this format for about 10 years. Now things have moved to working with photography on a more physical, elemental level with my sunburn series.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I assume you are asking about the Sunburn work. It is a very simple process. It is interesting that sometimes the best things are found taking the simplest approach. Basically I am putting vintage black and white paper inside large format cameras, from 4"x5" to 30"x40". The larger cameras are home made by myself. The paper is exposed inside the camera on location for some hours at a time. I use military reconnaissance optics to project a much brighter image then ordinary lenses. This creates the burning process of the sun as it moves through the sky. The brightness also helps with this natural occurrence called solarization. Basically the paper is extremely over exposed to the point where it reverses into a positive naturally. I then develop the paper negative in the darkroom like a standard b&w print and that's that. Simple.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In terms of the early years when I was a teenager, I'd say my friends involved in the DIY punk scene. Through them I learned you can do anything, even if you have no money. Just think creatively and figure it out. Don't let people convince you that you are not capable of doing what you want. But mainly my inspirational sources come from the world we live in. I love being outdoors in nature. I really love the desert of southern California.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is art for you? </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Art is something that sparks an interest in the viewer. Something that speaks to the person experiencing it.Whether it be love, hate, further questions... just something sparks some kind of emotion.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
Poi ho incominciato a fotografare i miei amici.
Bisogna solo pensare in modo creativo e immaginarlo.

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for art?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I have made myself as artist and since I did not study strictly art but design, I have joined art in my own way. As artist I try not to confine myself to just one discipline. Though my main artistic production is sculpture and installation, I am also a performer and really love to make street artistic interventions. Last year I have also started to exhibit my works as photographer and making collective performances with other artists. Each day I am more convinced that art is a way of living and that you can find art in almost anything. Right now I am working on a performance and photo register of my sessions with my dentist which is call “the crowning”. The fact of facing something annoying (and painful) as going to the dentist in an artistic way transformed in a radically positive way such an experience. I discover my passion when I was a child trough drawing and sculpting, but it wasn’t until I was almost 30 years old that I decided to take it seriously. Besides my work as art director and stylist for TV commercials and featured films took me away from art for a while. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I am not a rational artist at all. I do not make sketches I just simply follow the wisdom of materials to create my sculptures and I work in a really instinctive way. Right now I am working with animal bones and teeth and I let those materials guide the creative path. It is true that I have an obsession with the mixing of animal species with both human forms and technology and with the use of discarded stuff. This use of trash is a genuine political stand. As South American artist I firmly believe in my poor art manifesto that consists in the using of discarded things exclusively. Last but not least, I am still wondered by this strange animal we are, capable of construct, of using tools, of speaking and with the great power of invent and destroy worlds. During my Hotel Frenesí (Frenzy Hotel) exhibit a couple was looking at my self-portrait called The Motor-Maker made of recycled aluminum, toys, nylon and human teeth. I heard the man say “This is monster”. Then I thought: aren’t we all?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I think the ocean is my main source of inspiration, but also time (which is also tide) and the dehumanization of our culture and above all the fantastic sensation that we can transform the world trough art. Maybe this idea of transformation is just an illusion but I will die trying to transform the world trough art. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is art for you?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">As I‘ve said before, for me art is a way of living and fighting and questioning our culture. I could start my statement by saying “I am really interested in questioning the way we are as culture and individuals” but the fact is that I can’t help doing so. As time goes by I am more convinced that it is not a question of interest as I believe art is a force that just takes you. And this has nothing to do with paranormal events. It is just the way I feel it and I have found out art is my own way of fighting time.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I am generally a positive guy but I often feel like I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- When did you discover your passion for art?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">At an early age I spent most of my time day dreaming. As I grew older, I realized the importance of these visions and dreams and promised myself to never abandon them. Today, I am simply learning the art of manifesting these visions into something real. With each work I create I learn something new as well as a deeper sense of why I do what I do. I don't think I will ever stop learning nor will I ever find the exact reason why I do what I do and that's the beauty of it all.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I often enjoy the process more than the end product. I typically start with a simple idea that later becomes lost in the process then somehow resurfaces in the end meanwhile allowing the reclaimed materials at hand suggest the outcome. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I am inspired by the struggle to find and maintain a source of life that is forever flowing.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Hi everybody! </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">As you probably have notice I just open a facebook page for the blog! If you like you can join it! :) Today, I like to introduce Jeff Koons, one of the major contemporary artists! I can’t avoid to write of him on my blog!! He is an American artist, born in1955, known for his reproductions of banal object, such as balloon animals produced in steel with mirror finish surfaces. His work can be defined as Neo-pop, that is a movement born in the 80s as a reaction to the main streams of the period: Minimalism and Conceptualism. The basic point of Koons’ art is the rejection of any hidden meaning in his artwork. The artist states that there is no gap between the perception of the object and its essence. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ciao a tutti!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Loretta Lux was born in Dresden, East Germany, in 1969 and is a fine art photographer known for her surreal portraits of young children. She currently lives and works in Monaco. Lux graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts in Munich in the 1990s, and debuted at the Yossi Milo gallery, New York in 2004. The show put both Yossi Milo and Loretta Lux on the map, selling out and setting prices never before seen from a new gallery. The artist executes her compositions using a combination of photography, painting and digital manipulation. Lux’s work usually features young children and she is influenced by a variety of sources. She originally trained as a painter at Munich Academy of Art, and she is influenced by painters such as Agnolo Bronzino, Diego Velázquez, Phillip Otto Runge, but also by the famous Victorian photographic portraitists of childhood such as Julia Margaret Cameron and Lewis Carroll. Loretta Lux’s works are exhibited at Carla Sozzani Gallery in Milan until 31 October. Oggi vive e lavora a Monaco. <div style="text-align: justify;">Although originally born in Bern in 1944, Olivier Mosset has not lived in Switzerland for almost thirty years. In the mid sixties he moved to Paris, then to New York, where he finished his studies in Art and Art History at Columbia University. Today, He and his wife now live in Tucson, Arizona. In Paris he has his first contact with the art world, especially with the artists of Nouveau Réalism such as Klein, Arman and Raysse, and starts work as Jean Tinguely's and Daniel Spoerri's assistant. Through these artists he meets Marcel Duchamp. Mosset finds the idea of the art object which some of these artists are developing, interesting, but reasons that a painting is also a good object. He starts a series of paintings that show the letter "A". This is followed by paintings which have a black circle at the centre of a white background. Between 1966 and 1974 Mosset paints approximately 200 such circle paintings that become generally accepted as his signature image. Mosset meets Buren, Toroni and Parmentier by 1967, and their circles, stripes, square dots and folded canvases are quickly agglomerated in a movement that becomes known as BMPT, after the initials of these four artists. BMPT becomes a vehicle to propagate the idea of democracy for the language and content of art. Mosset moves to New York in 1977 and begins to paint monochrome paintings that deal with abstraction as silence, mutism and ineloquence. It seems that Mosset has reached a logical end point of painting, in the sense that it is difficult to imagine what can follow from his line of reasoning without crossing the line between art and non-art.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
L’artista guarda all’astrazione come silenzio, mutismo e ineloquenza. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for art? </div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Apart from the usual school education I studied visual communication at the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund achieving a diploma as a photo designer. The wish to study photo design arose in the late 80th. With about 16 years I started to photograph everything with my first Nikon SLR. Initially the movie "Under fire" with Nick Nolte started my fascination for being a photographer and I guess the idea of becoming a war photographer was kind of interesting. So, after I felt comfortable with my camera and composing images in the view finder I concentrated on street photography, for sure influenced by the Magnum book "Zeitblende" (In our time). After my school and civil service time I started to study in Dortmund. While the fascination for street and documentary photography remained in the first years, I soon realized that there are other fields in photography which are also interesting and fascinating. Influenced by one of my professors I started to work more and more conceptual. A series of images replaced THE image, photographs started to interact with themselves. Towards the end of my studies my relationship to photography has changed considerably. Especially my diploma which I shot in the film sets of Germany TV soap operas, the zoo series and former series manifested my interest in the imaginary. From being a photographer who tried to capture the real I evolved to creating the fictitious.Looking back to when my fascination for the visual arts started, I stumble across all the fabulous children's books my parents presented my with. I especially liked one where a boy spends his vacations with his grandfather in the woods, as the boy is in the possession of a magnifying glass which permits him to discover what formerly has been invisible to the eye like ants etc. The step from the magnifying glass to the camera lens seems to be a logical consequence.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">That really depends. In the late 90th I started again to experiment with 3D computer graphics after initial contact in the 80th. During my studies I learned more and more about cgi and solved some of the photographic tasks by using computer graphics instead of shooting something with a camera. For my private and professional work I like to use both sides. Real photography and computer graphics. One should always use the best from each world and usually the images combining these elements in the most exquisite way are the most stunning ones. While computers and software get more powerful each year, the ability to create photo-realistic imagery is getting easier. Luckily the ability to create good images is attached to individuals and their senses. So technology isn't everything. In case of the cg animals, as soon as the decision has been made to create them via the computer, the research starts. Although the time is very limited to get familiar with your subject, it is probably the most interesting one in a project as you are usually confronted with something unknown. Getting the insight into something you only know by its surface is a little miracle by itself, similar to the making of a movie or a backstage pass. Realizing how an organism "works" is just beautiful. Afterwards the hard and tedious work of rebuilding something created by nature over thousands of years begin. Especially fur and feathers have the ability to make your day. Luckily in the last years there have been great enhancements supporting the creative to recreate these surfaces.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I guess everything. Years ago while still growing up Monty Python totally spoiled my sense of humour. Also I can't blame Palin, Cleese and the rest of the bunch for everything, I guess since then I see the world, my environment and other people through pythonesque spectacles. In some way I try to see the weird, humorous and bizarre behind the surface. Sometimes this will indeed end in something funny like the octopus in the bath tub, the fat horse and fat giraffe or the Mückofant. On the other hand there are images like the ones from zoological gardens which are far more subtle. While still being strange environments, like a Terry Gilliam movie, there is also the reference to the society who builds these environments in resemblance to nature or the idealised conception of nature. So, in the end I need to stay open minded, as there is not a certain daytime or activity which is connected to the birth of ideas. A colour, a word, a face, a movie. Anything can trigger something in your brain which results in a picture that needs to be created.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What is your definition of art?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I never tried to come up with a description of what is art. The strange thing in the English language is the way the word art is used. Everybody who is involved with computer graphics calls him-/herself cgi artist. While people do so, there are only a few who's work I would call artistic or artful. In German the word "Künstler" (artist) describes a far more isolated/exqusite kind of person/profession. So in English the usage of the word artist and art is highly inflationary, making the introduction of the word "fine art" necessary. Finding a definition of what is art is probably as impossible as coming up with a guide to identify a great photo. Being a photographer for about 25 years I "earned" the ability to tell what is and what isn't. As there will be always others who will contradict my judgement regarding a certain image, the process to distinguish between art, simple images and crap is a highly personal one. Sometimes personal interests will lead persons to call certain things a piece of art, as it is in their benefit to do so. Other times somebody will give you a well prepared explanation why something is art, making it hard or tedious to convince the person of the opposite. So in the end the state of an object or event whether it is art or not depends on the arrogance of an individual to say so and others to agree for what ever reason this might be. Probably this is the very essence of art, that it withdraws itself from an unanimous appraisal, judgement and classification and arouses contradiction.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- Come crei i tuoi lavori?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Questo dipende.

<div style="text-align: justify;">George Birrell style is unmistakable! His works are always full of coloured houses. Cheerful and delicate paintings that represent its native country. Birrell is a Scottish painter, who studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1967-71, graduating with a Diploma of Art in Drawing & Painting. His work has been shown widely throughout Scotland and also in England and in New York. The first thing which attracts the attention on his paintings is the use of strong colours and stylized compositions. He describes the East Cost Scottish towns and fishing villages, evoking a big sense of peace and serenity. To create its work Birrell doesn’t begin from a photograph, but improvises and tries to remember the essentials of a place in the comfort of its studio.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
I suoi lavori sono stati esposti in Scozia, in Inghilterra e a New York.

</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Hi everyone! I'm sorry to be a little late with the post in these days, but I have to study for the exams! Here it is an interview with a Russian photographer :) enjoy it! </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- Can you tell us something about yourself?</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I was born in Moscow in 1986, in a type district, built instead of a military airfield. Near is the Moskva River with barges and aerospace factory. Amazing place. I didn't like school, but I made home performances with my handmade dolls. I played with these dolls for a long time – under 12 years. Nature has always been a place where I could hide. I felt myself very cosy walking alone in the woods. I could walk for hours and dream imagine my own little worlds. Then a day I dreamed of becoming a botanist and I went everywhere with a book about plants and first-aid kit for animals. Now everything has changed, but not the love of nature and animals.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- When did you discover your passion for photography?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Photography chose me. When I couldn't talk by images, I wrote stories. One day I opened my eyes in another world. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- How do you create your works?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I can go dozens of kilometers just to see alpine pastures, waterfalls and river bends. To feel you must go alone. So I'm greatly light on one's feet. The last time in mountains I was ready to weep for the beauty around me. These were incredible feelings. Now I know how to awaken theirs. Love and sadness - they are inseparable. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your main sources of inspirations?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The time alone - trains, airports, stations, night trails. Movements. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">The era of the USSR: architecture, cinema. Iceland. Mountains. Wild nature. David Lynch. Michelangelo Antonioni. Sunset. Any happening daily. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">- What are your favourite artists? Why?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Erik Bulatov, Aleksandra Ekster, Kazimir Malevich, Marc Shagall, Aleksander Rodchenko. Avant-garde painters is my passion. Incredible colours and pain.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ciao a tutti!
Adesso so come risvegliare i sensi.
Perchè?</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Erik Bulatov, Aleksandra Ekster, Kazimir Malevich, Marc Shagall, Aleksander Rodchenko. Avanguardia sono la mia passione. Incredibili i colori e le sofferenze.</div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">As the experts say, today it is possible to recognize two main distinct streams in Chinese contemporary art, one may be called “Chinese pop” and the other “Chinese calligraphy and traditional painting”. Yun-Fei Ji belongs for sure to the second stream! He is a Chinese artist, born in Beijing in1963 and moved to New York during the 80s. Trough his paints he tells stories and shows issues that are still perceived as critical in China, such as turbulent historical events and the Cultural Revolution. For painting, Yun-Fei Ji uses handmade rice paper and translucent ink or paint based on natural pigments.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><br />
