- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for art?

I haven't decide to be an artist. I just realized that I am an artist.

- How do you create your works?

First of all, I creates image(figure) using computer and print it by giclee on tarpaulin. Then I paint all parts (black, white and clear) by acrylic. It is very complicated to explain.

- What are your main sources of inspirations?

The crime that is caused with emotional.

- What is art for you?

I make the work to get rid of anxious of unknown things and thought and I replace a cross section of the depth as the numerical analysis.This is my concept for the work.

Non ho deciso di fare l’artista, ho realizzato di esserlo.

- Come crei i tuoi lavori?

Prima di tutto, creo immagini, (figure) usando il computer e uso la stampa giclee (stampa ad inchiostro colorato) su un telone cerato. Dopo di che dipingo tutte le parti (nero, bianco e sfumature chiare) con acrilico. È molto difficile da spiegare.

- Quali sono le tue principali fonti di ispirazione?

Il delitto passionale.

- Cos’è l’arte per te?

Lavoro per liberarmi dall’ansia delle cose sconosciute e dai pensieri e li analizzo in profondità come se fosse un’analisi numerica. Questo è il mio concetto di lavoro.

- Can you tell us something about yourself?

I'm Norvhic Austria from Philippines and I was born on September 17 1990. I'm an IT student. I like surreal artworks and photography.

- When did you discover your passion for art?

Drawing pictures using my pencil or pen have been my favorite past-time since childhood. But it was when I joined art related sites and start making my own digital artworks that I really got serious and passionate about art. Seeing different artworks by different artists around the world really motivated me to do better.

- How do you create your art works?

I create my artworks by combining pictures plus my imagination. I start making my artworks as soon as I think of a concept. I will first search pictures on sites which provide free stock images and then I combine the pictures together to make a new picture using some picture editing softwares.

- What are your main sources of inspirations?

Works of other artists, songs, movies and my own experiences.

- Ci puoi raccontare qualcosa su di te?

Io sono Norvhic Austria delle Filippine e sono nato il 17 settembre 1990. Studio IT (Information Technology). Mi piacciono le opere d’arte surreali e la fotografia.

- Quando hai scoperto la tua passione per l’arte?

Disegnare immagini usando la matita o la penna è stato il mio passatempo preferito fin dall’infanzia. Ma è stato quando mi sono iscritto a dei web site che si interessavano di arte e ho iniziato a fare i miei lavori digitali che la passione per l’arte è diventata una cosa seria. Vedere molti lavori di diversi artisti mi motiva a migliorarmi.

- Come crei i tuoi lavori?

Creo i miei lavori mettendo insieme immagini con la mia immaginazione. Inizio a lavorare appena penso ad un concetto. Per prima cosa cerco delle immagini nei siti che forniscono immagini gratuite, dopo di che le metto insieme con un software apposta.

- Quali sono le tue principali fonti d’ispirazione?

Lavori degli altri artisti, canzoni, film e la mia esperienza.

Yoko D'Holbachie - Weird characters and puppets

- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for art?

I have always wanted to be an artist since I was a child.

- How do you create your works?

I paint every art work in Oil paint or Acrylic paint.

- What are your main sources of inspirations?

I had many invisible weird friends. I played with them by giving them feet, tongues and eyelashes, and adults around me thought it was creepy. I can depict them very simply and clearly now through my basic art techniques.

- What ais art for you?

It is a fragment of my soul I scraped away.Or innocent child. The child’s mind is neither always decent nor cute, but sometimes weird or grotesque, and the most beautiful.

- Ci puoi raccontare qualcosa su di te? Quando hai scoperto la tua passione per l’arte?

Ho sempre desiderato essere un artista fin da bambino.

- Come crei i tuoi lavori?

Dipingo ogni giorno con colori ad olio e acrilici.

-Quali sono le tue principali fonti d’ispirazione?

Avevo un sacco di amici invisibili e bizzarri e giocavo con loro, gli adulti attorno pensavano che fosse da brividi. Oggi posso dipingerli molto semplicemente e chiaramente con le mie tecniche artistiche.

- Cos’è l’arte per te?

È un frammento della mia anima che è stato graffiato via. O un bambino innocente. La mente dei bambini non è mai completamente “decente” o carina, ma a volte può essere bizzarra o grottesca e molto interessante.

Qendrim Hoti - It's a funny world

- Can you tell us something about yourself?

My name is Qendrim Hoti, I was born in Kosovo in 1990 but now I live in New York and I am starting my first semester at FIT for fine art.

- When did you discover your passion for art?

My passion for art started like a little candle flame and eventually grew bigger and bigger as I wanted to learn more. Ever since I was little I always liked to draw and create. It wasn't until high school that I got serious about painting and explored new horizons.

- How do you create your works?

The way my work is created is that randomly (usually late at night) an idea will pop into my head and I will write it down. I do this until I have a bunch of ideas grouped together and I pick my favorite one and then expand it. I then do a blueprint sketch that I apply to a prepared canvas. Then it's painting time!

- What are your main sources of inspirations?

Inspiration is funny because when you look for it, you won’t find it. It always manages to find you when you least expect it. I get inspired by things around me like people, animals, architecture, and also other artists' work. I enjoy the Hifructose magazines that come out four times a year.

- Ci puoi raccontare qualcosa su di te?

Mi chiamo Qendrim Hoti, sono nato in Kosovo nel 1990 e oggi vivo a New York, dove sto per iniziare il mio primo semestre alla scuola d’arte FIT.

-Quando hai scoperto la tua passione per l’arte?

La mia passione per l’arte è iniziata come una piccolo fiamma di candela ed è cresciuta sempre di più. Fin da piccolo mi è sempre piaciuto disegnare e creare. Ma solo al liceo ho iniziato a dipingere seriamente e a esplorare nuovi orizzonti.

- Come crei I tuoi lavori?

La creazione di un lavoro inizia quando un’idea entra nella mia testa, di solito a notte tarda, e io la trascrivo. Continuo a farlo fino a quando non ho raggruppato un po’ di idée, poi scelgo la mia preferita e la sviluppo. Dopo di che faccio uno schizzo che serve da traccia e lo riporto su tela. Solo allora inizio a dipingere!

- Quali sono le tue principali fonti d’ispirazione?

L’ispirazione è buffa, perchè quando la cerchi non arriva. Ti trova sempre quando meno te l’aspetti. Di solito sono ispirato dalle cose che mi circondano: persone, animali, architettura, lavoro degli altri artisti. Mi piace molto l’Hifructose magazine che esce 4 volte l’anno.

Ann Mei - An immaginary and fantastic world directly from Russia

- Can you tell us something about yourself?

I live in a small Russian town, called Ostrov. In my childhood I used to dream to become an artist and I finished a children’s art school. But after, when I grew up I didn’t have the opportunity to engage in the arts. I got married and worked as all normal people. Finally, children are grown up and I have a lot of free time, and this time, I gave creative.

- When did you discover your passion for art?

It all started with the usual photos, which to me seemed boring, I wanted to make something nice that would be to please my friends- then I don’t know that everything will become so serious.

- How do you create your works?

My work consists of a large number of photos. When I have an idea, I take the camera and many many things and textures and backgrounds, of all these things I try to make the plot, which is thought , but all too often turns to the other side of the conceived. Sometimes I see a girl and immediately understand that this is my model. And then the work is produced quickly, within a few hours. But some of the other work I do for a long time and did not even finish.

- What are your main sources of inspirations ?

This question is very difficult to answer … Inspiration comes from many different things – viewed the movie, read a book, get acquainted with new artists in the exhibitions, travel, or just a dream …. Anything , I do not know that in my head. Very often this internal status, which requires exit out.

- Ci puoi raccontare qualcosa su di te?

Vivo nella piccola città Russa di Ostrov. Da bambina ho sempre sognato di fare l’artista, da giovane ho frequentato una scuola d’arte. Ma in seguito non ho avuto modo di continuare a seguire la mia passione, mi sono sposata e ho iniziato a lavorare come tutti quanti. Finalmente, una volta che i miei figli sono diventati grandi, ho avuto a disposizione molto più tempo libero e così ho ripreso a dedicarmi all’arte.

-Quando hai scoperto la tua passione per l’arte?

Tutto è iniziato con semplici foto, che a me sembravano noiose, ho voluto, così, fare qualcosa di carino che facesse piacere ai miei amici. Non pensavo che sarebbe diventata una cosa seria.

- Come crei I tuoi lavori?

Il mio lavoro consiste nel scattare un grande numero di foto. Quando mi viene un’idea, prendo la macchina fotografica e anche sfondi e tipi diversi di grana. Con tutte queste cose cerco di costruire la scena, che ho in mente, ma succede che viene fuori qualcosa di diverso da ciò che avevo pensato. A volte vedo una ragazza e decido subito che sarà la mia modella. E quando inizio a lavorare, ci metto magari poche ore per finire il lavoro. Per altri lavori invece impiego molto più tempo e magari non li riesco nemmeno a finire.

-Quali sono le tue principali fonti d’ispirazione?

A questa domanda è veramente difficile rispondere. .. l’ispirazione arriva da molte cose diverse – vedere un film, leggere un libro, conoscere nuovi artist, viaggiare, sognare…. Tutto.. non so cosa c’è nella mia testa, ma spesso questo stato interno esce fuori.

Julian Lee - Art as a struggle

- Can you tell us something about yourself? When did you discover your passion for art?

I was born and raised in Liverpool, living also in London, and studied Fine Art at Newcastle University before moving to Frankfurt in Germany, Ten years ago. My wife is German and I have a two-year-old Daughter. Luckily, like most Artists I discovered early as a child that I wanted to become an Artist of some sort.

- What are your main sources of inspirations?

A hard question to answer, but roughly speaking, Life and everything about it. The starting point for a painting can be anything that strikes a visual chord with me, a Photograph, or magazine image, a drawing from my sketch books, anything at all. Only later when I’ve finished a painting do I discover what it was that about the image that first inspired me, if I’m lucky.

- How do you create your works?

Once I’ve decided on an image or idea I start with painting on a prepared canvas. Working with Acrylic and Oil paint.Every painting changes so many times, often completely, before I think it’s finished. There is no painting I made that have not struggled with. But it is a struggle that I love. Each painting feels like a complete lifetime. birth-life-death. Each work has its own history, meaning, and story to tell.

- What are your favourite artists? Why?

There are so many Artists I admire, and I love discovering new ones. But here is a selection; Willem De Kooning. The greatest abstract painter. His work in the late 50s and late 70s and 80s is unsurpassed in modern painting. Vincent Van Gogh. The only artist who has made me cry. A genius and hero of the human race. Anselm Kiefer. Incredibly brave and powerful Art. I love the scale of his work. Roger Dean. English fantasy illustrator and the first Artist whose work I fell in love with. Some less known but brilliant contemporary Artists I admire are; Neo Rauch, David Schnell, Hans Jörg Doblair, Martin Greenland, Brian Novatny.

- Ci puoi raccontare qualcosa su di te? Quando hai scoperto la tua passione per l’arte?

Sono nato e cresciuto a Liverpool, ho vissuto anche a Londra, e ho studiato arte all’Università di Newcastle, prima di trasferirmi a Freancoforte in Germania, dieci anni fa. Mia moglie è tedesca e ho una figlia di due anni. Per fortuna, come molti artisti, ho scoperto presto, già da bambino, che volevo diventare un’artista.

- Quali sono le tue principali fonti d’ispirazione?

Una domanda difficile a cui rispondere, ma parlando in modo spiccio, la Vita e tutto ciò che riguarda essa. Il punto d’inizio per un dipinto può essere qualsiasi cosa che spezzi una corda in me, una fotografia, un imagine di giornale, un disegno del mio quaderno degli schizzi, e tutto in generale. Solo dopo che ho finito un dipinto riesco a scoprire cosa, nell’immagine da cui tutto è partito, mi ha realmente ispirato.

- Come crei I tuoi lavori?

Una volta che ho deciso un’immagine o un’idea inizio a dipingere su una tela preparata lavorando con acrilici e colori ad olio. Ogni dipinto cambia molte volte, in certi casi completamente prima che pensi che sia finito. Non c’è una sola opera che ho fatto senza aver dovuto combattere con essa, ma è questo conflitto che amo di più. Ogni diointo sembra avere una vita: nascita-vita-morte. Ogni dipinto ha la sua storia, il suo significato e qualcosa da raccontare.

- Quali sono I tuoi artisti preferiti? Perchè?

Ci sono moltissimi artisti xhe ammiro e mi piace anche scoprirne di nuovi. Ma ecco una selezione: Willem De Kooning. Il più grande pittore astrattista. Il suo lavoro negli ultimi anni 50, 70 e 80 non è ancora stato sorpassato nella pittura moderna. Vincent Van Gogh. L’unico artista che mi ha fatto piangere. Un genio ed eroe per l’umanità. Anselm Kiefer. La sua arte è incredibilmente potente e coraggiosa. Roger Dean. Illustratore fantasy inglese e primo artista di cui mi sono innamorato. Masao Yamamoto - Haiku and Japanese tradition

Masao Yamamoto is one of the most famous Japanese contemporary photographers. He was born 1957 in Gamagori City in Aichi Prefecture. Masao Yamamoto's photography remind, thanks to some aesthetic elements, to Japanese tradition. Using the camera to capture suggestive, observational imagery, Yamamoto provides the viewer with an experience quite similar to that of reading haiku (Japanese form of poem). His photographs are simple, but offer the ingredients for a deeper engagement of the work on some emotional or personal level. The power of haiku and of Yamamoto’s work is the power of suggestion, typical in traditional Japanese aesthetics. By providing the stimulus and leaving something unsaid or undefined, the viewer is given the chance to complete the idea and thus become part of the work.

Masao Yamamoto è uno dei più famosi fotografi contemporanei Giapponesi. È nato nel 1957 nella città di Gamagori nella prefettura di Aichi. La fotografia di Yamamoto richiama, grazie ad alcuni elementi estetici, la tradizione Giapponese. L’artista usa la macchina foto per catturare un immaginario suggestivo e offre allo spettatore un’esperienza simile a quella di leggere Haiku (poesie Giapponesi). I suoi lavori sono semplici, ma colpiscono lo spettatore nell’intimo. La forza dell’Haiku e delle opere di Yamamoto è la forza della suggestione, tipica nella tradizione estetica Giapponese. Fornendo l’impulso e lasciando cose non dette e non definite, allo spettatore è lasciata l’opportunità di completare l’idea e di diventare così parte del lavoro.

Mike Kelley - Coloured social protest

Mike Kelley was born 1954 in Detroit, today he lives and works in Los Angeles. He is a U.S. artist, known for his stitched doll. Kelley's work involves textile banners and carpets, and his final outputs includes, drawings, objects, assemblage, collage, performance and video. His work questions the legitimacy of ‘normative’ values and systems of authority, and attacks the sanctity of cultural attitudes toward family, religion, sexuality, art history, and education. Kelley started to gain recognition outside Los Angeles in the mid-eighties with the sculptural objects and installations from the series Half-a-Man and have since then exhibited in galleries and museums in other countries. But probably he became famous when the band Sonic Youth featured his work on the cover and booklet of their 1992 record Dirty.

Mike Kelley è nato a Ditroit nel 1954, oggi vive e lavora a Los Angeles. È un artista statunitense, diventato famoso per i suoi pupazzi fatti a maglia. Nei suoi lavori spesso usa strisce di tessuto e tappeto, e le sue opere sono disegni, oggetti, collage, performance e video. Con il suo lavoro si interroga sulla legittimità dei valori normativi e del sistema autoritario, e attacca la “la santità” proclamata nelle attitudini culturali, attraverso la famiglia, la religione la sessualità, la storia, e l’educazione. Kelley ha iniziato ad essere riconosciuto fuori da Los Angeles a metà degli anni Ottanta con le sculture e le istallazioni della serie Half-a-Man e da allora le sue opere sono state esposte in gallerie e musei di altre nazioni.
