George Birrell style is unmistakable! His works are always full of coloured houses. Cheerful and delicate paintings that represent its native country. Birrell is a Scottish painter, who studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1967-71, graduating with a Diploma of Art in Drawing & Painting. His work has been shown widely throughout Scotland and also in England and in New York. The first thing which attracts the attention on his paintings is the use of strong colours and stylized compositions. He describes the East Cost Scottish towns and fishing villages, evoking a big sense of peace and serenity. To create its work Birrell doesn’t begin from a photograph, but improvises and tries to remember the essentials of a place in the comfort of its studio.

Birrell è un pittore Scozzese, che ha studiato alla scuola d’arte di Glasgow tra il 1967 e il 1971, laureandosi al corso di Arte in Disegno e Dipinto. I suoi lavori sono stati esposti in Scozia, in Inghilterra e a New York. La prima cosa che attrae l’attenzione sui suoi dipinti è l’uso di colori forti e di forme stilizzate. Birrell descrive le città e i villaggi di pescatori della costa est della Scozia, evocando forti sensazioni di pace e serenità. Per creare i suoi lavori Birrell non inizia da una fotografia, ma improvvisa cercando di ricordare I tratti essenziali di un posto nella comodità del suo studio.
